About the Work
‘I mainly produce collagraph prints, taking inspiration from botanical forms. I enjoy the organic, flowing shapes that plants provide and I try to capture something of their fragility, movement and life in my work. I like to experiment with the technique, responding to the medium as the work progresses and using each stage as an opportunity to add something more. I develop my composition on paper before transferring it to the collagraph plate but I also allow the possibilities and limitations of the medium to take it to the next level. At the printing stage I use different methods of ‘inking-up’, chine colle and colour to develop the image further.’ |
